Michelle earned her advanced degree as a family nurse practitioner from George Mason University and is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, the American Nurses Association and is a Virginia Nurses Association Member. She earned her undergraduate Nursing degree from George Mason University and has worked as a registered nurse primarily in critical care (specializing in Neurology), cancer treatment, and surgical recovery for 10 years prior to obtaining her nurse practitioner degree. Michelle has keen interest in managing chronic disease including diabetes. For several years she worked as a travel nurse in Washington, D.C. and Virginia and as a volunteer community clinic nurse in her free time. Michelle has special interests in obesity and diabetes management and is certified by the Association of Diabetes Care & Education Specialists in advanced diabetes management. She is also a certified practitioner by the Menopause Society for management of women through perimenopause and beyond. Michelle is a native Virginian and a military spouse who has lived throughout the country, including Washington State, Tennessee, Florida, Texas, and North Carolina over the span of 25 years. She enjoys spending time with her husband and family, reading, and traveling.
